Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Intramural Sports Official, will be at the forefront of student recreation. They will ensure the completion of every IM Sporting Contest, mediate conflicts as they arise and oversee the execution & enforcement of all sports rules & policies. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop leadership & encourage sportsmanship in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Yourresponsibilities will include:
- Officiate intramural games with authority and impartiality.
- Enforce game rules and maintain the integrity of competition.
- Monitor and promote positive sportsmanship among players and spectators.
- Complete incident and injury reports as required.
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, and facility preparation as needed.
- Inspect playing areas for safety before each event.
- Conduct pre-game captain’s meetings to set expectations.
- Address on-site disputes and rule clarifications promptly and professionally.
- Maintain and manage university-issued equipment.
- Demonstrate punctuality, preparedness, and professionalism at all scheduled shifts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
- Minimum 16 years old
- Basic understanding of individual / team sports (e.g., basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball).
- Previous officiating experience or leadership roles in sports settings is a plus
- Current certification in American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED, or willingness to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.
- Complete Harassment Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, and SERT training within 90 days of hire.
- Able to work afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Ability to perform physical duties such as standing for extended periods, running, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Mandatory attendance at all training clinics and staff meetings.
Pay Rate: $18.70 – $23.24 per hour, pending experience.
This position is open to currently enrolled students eligible for Federal Work Study. Training and continuous professional development are provided throughout the year.
