DutiesUnder direction, the Secretary II performs varied clerical and secretarial duties for and relieve supervisor of minor administrative duties. Maintains a close and highly responsive relationship to the day to day work activities of the office of the supervisor. Work requires knowledge of programs and procedures relating to the work of the supervisor, as well as other departmental personnel. The Secretary II is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree//high school equivalency (GED); a minimum of one year specialized training in related area; and minimum of three (3) years’ related clerical/secretarial experience in a general office environment required.
Associate’s degree preferred.

Note:
Software and skills proficiency testing for the specific position will be required upon hire and must be successfully completed within the probationary period, if this testing has not been previously completed. Contact the Office of Human Resources at hr or for more information. Proficiency testing will include basic Word, basic Excel, alpha filing, keyboarding test, data entry, proofreading and other tests for the role.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required, including but not limited to:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Basic bookkeeping skills.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to learn and use various department-specific software programs.
- Ability to compose minutes.
- Ability to handle confidential material and maintain confidence.
