This position requires a strong commitment to teaching while incorporating technology and innovation in instruction. Duties include providing hands‑on and classroom instruction in the use of fire services equipment and tools, infusing new approaches into teaching, and working actively and collegially. Candidates must be able to prepare, instruct, and evaluate courses, seeking continuous improvement in teaching methodology and student‑centered learning.
Education & Experience- Associate’s Degree (A.A.S) required;
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s preferred. - Certification as a State Fire Marshal’s Office Fire Officer 2 or Advanced Fire Officer (AdFO) and Instructor 2 to teach Basic Company Officer (CoFO) or Advanced Fire Officer (AdFO) courses – requires minimum 3 years of fire service experience.
- Certification as a State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter and Instructor 1 (or higher) to teach Fire Academy Courses.
- Appropriate recognized credential depending on the specific field AND minimum of 1–2 years (2,000 hours) of relevant work experience.
The ideal candidate will maintain the highest standards for classroom instruction, apply innovative teaching methods, and demonstrate the ability to work with students at all skill levels. Teaching duties will involve preparing, instructing, and evaluating courses; seeking continuous improvement in teaching methodology and student‑centered learning. Some courses may require additional certification or licensure based on industry standards or accreditation requirements.
Position StatusFull‑time, hours to be determined, salaried. Base salary: $58,623 – $71,670 (Base Load is 15 ECH).
