Hours:
24 hours per week – rotating shift assignments, weekends, holidays.
Salary: $15.97–$16.12 per hour.
Position OverviewUnder general supervision, the Community Service Officer protects institutional property against fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry, providing service to staff, students, and visitors. The Officer aids in disaster control, serves dispatch duties, and develops programs that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Patrol buildings and grounds by motorized or foot patrol to deter and report crime, enforce non‑criminal violations, and provide service.
- Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security.
- Monitor for irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unsecured doors.
- Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of college property.
- Sound alarm or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons and assist building captain communication.
- Permit authorized persons to enter property.
- Lock or unlock college buildings as directed by established procedures.
- Provide basic first aid to persons injured or to college property as directed.
- Maintain department policies, procedures, applicable rules, and work requirements.
- Perform desk relief and maintain desk competency along with a current LEADS certification.
- Assist in matron duties when designated as trained.
- Assist with coordination and completion of evacuations during emergencies.
Minimum of three (3) months related experience and/or training with a minimum of 30 credit hours of college coursework at time of application, OR a minimum of one (1) year related experience with training.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must successfully complete the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) certification program and maintain current LEADS certification.
Qualifications- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write correspondence and departmental reports.
