Position: Process Engineer, Specialty Carbon Black - Pampa, TX 9/80 Schedule

Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join the technical process engineering team at the Pampa, TX specialty carbon black facility and follows a 9/80 schedule, with employees working nine-hour days and taking every other Friday off.

This role is responsible for the management of multiple carbon black units through the leadership of Operator teams, process improvements, and projects that improve product quality, optimize production capacity, ensure equipment reliability, provide capital improvements, integrate new technology and practices, and optimize overall performance.

The Process Engineer will work on-site at the Pampa, TX plant and is eligible for a 9/80 schedule and is relocation eligible, as appropriate.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Improve Plant Performance – Identifies, recommends, and implements improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, yields and quality in accordance with business needs. Gathers and evaluates appropriate data, utilizing statistical techniques, to improve process capability and/or identify root causes of problems, and implement improvement opportunities. Facilitate unit Continuous Process Improvement team efforts.
  • Operations Technical Support – Provides technical advice and support to resolve operating problems, understanding unit downtime issues, controlling unit grade operating conditions and investigating deviations using root cause analysis. Technical authority for area units.
  • Resolves Quality Issues – Works with quality personnel and operations to understand causes of unit product quality issues and develops actions to improve processes that will improve customer satisfaction.
  • Training – Develops and provides training as required to support manufacturing personnel in the understanding and operation of manufacturing unit processes.
  • SOP Development – Assist in development of plant-wide Standard Operating Procedures for process and equipment operation.
  • PSM/Process MOC – Ensures all product and process changes are implemented consistent with appropriate Management of Change protocol and relevant PSM elements to Cabot.
  • New Product/Process Campaigns – Supports and implements new product and process runs and prepares relevant documentation to execute. Develops and implements equipment, procedure and process changes including design and implementation of improvement projects, and participation in Hazard Operability Studies, as applicable. Assists in the design and operation of new equipment.
  • Technical Communications – Communicates regularly with regional and global counterparts in specialty carbons business to facilitate continuous improvement and ongoing organizational learning.
  • Capital Support – Provide support to develop and implement plant-related capital projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will You Bring to Cabot
  • Bachelor/University degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of applicable experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in Chemical Manufacturing; process and product technology preferred.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management and ISO process awareness/compliance preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Carbon black manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Root Cause Analysis techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with plant process equipment, chemistry, and controls preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing small projects – planning, task identification, & achieving milestones preferred.
  • Ability to gather, analyze data and draw well-reasoned conclusions or recommendations.
  • Ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
How We'll Support Your Success
  • The pay range for this role is from $89,100 to $125,800
    . The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skill, qualifications, experience and location. All positions are eligible for health benefits on the first day of employment, 401K savings plans, vision, dental and an annual bonus based on company performance.
