MEP Project Manager - Data Center Construction

Summary

Mortenson is seeking an MEP Project Manager to lead and direct MEP dominant projects on medium to large projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and safety, while mentoring the project team and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. This position can be at either Level 1 or Level 2, with compensation based on experience and location.

• Manage overall financial health of projects
• Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections
• Allocate project estimates into financial system, determine cost codes, approve invoices, and manage budget
• Provide financials and billings to accounting for timely payment and create monthly owner billings
• Oversee budget and select trade partners and suppliers, handle billings and contract management
• Oversee 3‑D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installation
• Direct and manage commissioning process, including start‑up plan, COT, schedule, and functional testing
• Lead project closeout activities, including operations and maintenance manuals, model turnover, and training
• Manage Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s); assign jobs, provide career development, and give feedback
• Act as main contact with owner and on‑site representative, resolve site concerns, and build positive relationships

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to manage the full project life cycle for complex projects
• Detail oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, project management, and relevant web applications
• Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
• Active listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback
• Ability to travel up to 100%

• Minimum six years of construction management experience, preferably as a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor
• Base pay range: $113,500 minimum – $170,300 maximum

• Minimum seven years of construction management experience, preferably as a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor
• Base pay range: $132,100 minimum – $198,200 maximum
• Pay ranges are higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL (5%);
  Seattle, WA and Portland, OR (10%);
  Washington, D.C. (12.5%)
• Position is eligible for the company incentive plan
