Job Summary

The Safety Controller is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment across all construction sites. This role monitors daily site activities, enforces company safety policies, conducts inspections, and supports compliance with local safety regulations and company standards. The Safety Controller works closely with site supervisors, subcontractors, and workers to reduce workplace risks and prevent accidents.

Key Responsibilities

Site Safety Oversight

• Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Ensure all workers use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Stop unsafe work practices when necessary and report incidents immediately.

Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, permits, and inspection logs.
• Assist with preparing Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and local construction safety regulations.
• Support audits and inspections conducted by clients or regulatory agencies.

Training & Communication

• Conduct safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors.
• Lead toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
• Communicate safety expectations clearly to workers and supervisors.

Incident Management

• Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety violations.
• Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed.

Emergency Preparedness

• Assist in developing emergency response procedures.
• Ensure emergency equipment and first aid supplies are available and inspected regularly.
• Coordinate emergency drills when required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 2+ years of construction site safety experience preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety practices, equipment, and hazard controls.
• Ability to read and understand safety regulations and site procedures.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment

This position operates primarily on active construction sites and may require travel between project locations. The Safety Controller must maintain a visible presence on-site to support safe operations and compliance.
