Coho Construction Management is seeking an experienced Deputy Project Manager to support a newly awarded contract providing project management services to a federal client’s design and construction program in Chantilly, VA. This part-time, hybrid position requiring up to 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and will support the Project Manager with project controls, contract administration, reporting, meeting coordination, documentation, and day-to-day project management activities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, data management, written, and verbal communication skills, along with demonstrated experience supporting design and construction projects. The position requires regular in-person participation, including an anticipated weekly meeting at the Chantilly office and at least one monthly meeting at the customer’s office in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Support the development and maintenance of project controls activities, including monitoring and reporting task order progress.
  • Assist the Project Manager with contract administration and project management activities.
  • Coordinate information and activities among subcontractors, field operations, project management, and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to government requests and assist with timely resolution of project-related inquiries.
  • Attend project progress and task-specific meetings and prepare accurate meeting minutes.
  • Track meeting action items and follow up with responsible parties to support timely completion.
  • Maintain organized project files, ensuring reports, correspondence, and project records remain current and readily accessible.
  • Support the preparation of weekly and monthly consolidated project reports summarizing project progress, issues, and overall status.
  • Monitor design and construction activities and assist with identifying and communicating project issues or areas requiring attention.
  • Attend required face-to-face meetings and provide in-person project support as needed.
  • Support the Project Manager in maintaining continuity and effective communication across project stakeholders.
  • Perform other project management and administrative duties as assigned in support of contract requirements.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Education and

    Certifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent with 10–15 years of construction field/trade experience
    • A degree in construction or a related field is preferred but not required
    • The following certifications/credentials are required or must be obtained within 30 days:
      • Valid REAL
      • Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification
      • OSHA 30 Construction Safety certification
      • EM 385-1-1 certification/training
    • Ability to obtain and retain required base access
  • Demonstrated Knowledge &

    Experience:

    • Strong understanding of construction quality control, safety requirements, and field supervision practices
    • Ability to independently manage work assignments and travel to project sites while meeting established objectives
    • Ability to conduct project site visits and inspections as required
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
    • Familiarity with RMS and Proj Net systems is preferred
    • Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and coordinate project activities
    • Knowledge of U.S. military construction and infrastructure project requirements
    • Ability to identify project risks, coordinate site activities, and resolve construction-related challenges
  • Travel:

    • This position requires the ability to travel independently for project site visits, inspections, and other project-related activities. Approximately 10–15% travel is preferred, with additional travel as required by project needs
