** POSITION SUMMARY
** Support the Safety Manager in safety-related functions within the shipyards. Perform safety activities on Company property to evaluate, identify, and correct potential safety issues.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING**:
Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers; your duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
* Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
* Comply with company, Federal, State, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations, and policies while performing duties.
* Inspect designated workplace areas.
* Assist in enforcing the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
* Assist in the issuance and monitoring of hot work permits, confined space entries, and lockout/ tag-out permits.
* Administer first aid as needed.
* Conduct Safety Orientation.
* Administer post-accident/ near-miss drug tests as required.
* Advance knowledge of safety (minimum 18 months of safety experience) and knowledge of fire or medical (preferred). Including a type of certification or medical/fire class.
* Advanced computer skills, including word, Excel.
* Holds teamwork and consistency in high regard
* Have a solid foundational knowledge of safety (minimum 12 months of safety experience) and fire or medical(preferred).  + Due to the need for medical professionals, experience may be substituted
* Solid computer knowledge, including word, Excel.
* Safety Competent Person trained.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
** SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
** This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
** REQUIREMENTS
* *** Education/ Experience**:
High school diploma or GED equivalence plus one year of safety experience in a manufacturing or construction environment desired.
