Tutoring Position
The primary functions are to provide tutoring to GCSC students enrolled in developmental mathematics courses up to Calculus I, including Math for Liberal Arts, Survey of Mathematics, Statistics, and Health Math.
The position may require non-standard hours (nights and weekends). Though working hours may be flexible, scheduling will be based primarily on the scheduling needs of the program participants. The position also requires the ability to work with faculty, staff and students. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, listening and communication skills are required, as well as an exceptional ability to convey personal knowledge to students in a fundamental and supportive manner.
Examplesof Duties
- Provide individual or group tutoring on specific assignments
- Develop tutorial material related to courses
- Attend professional development and training
Associates Degree from an institutional accredited college or university
Tutoring experience is preferred.
The individual must be organized and patient. A person will have to be able to change from tutoring one level of math to another level seamlessly. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ability to be flexible in scheduling work hours including coverage demands due to training periods and equipment problems is required.
The ability to work flexible hours and regular attendance at work are essential functions of this position. The ability to travel locally is required.

The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus as well as ability to determine the color of objects.
