Voltari is seeking a Senior ESS Engineer to work hand‑in‑hand with our CTO and lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of Voltari’s battery development and management software systems. This role is both technical and strategic, ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to help define the future of marine energy systems.
The candidate will oversee and grow a cross‑functional engineering team responsible for the evolution of Voltari’s ESS technology, battery management, embedded system integration, and real‑time control software, while collaborating closely with the company’s hardware, electrical, and propulsion engineers.

- Serve as the CTO’s right hand in leading and advancing Voltari’s ESS technology strategy.
- Design and architect robust software frameworks for battery management systems (BMS), including SOC/SOH estimation, cell balancing, safety logic, Charging, and fault detection.
- Direct the design and integration of embedded control software for energy and propulsion systems across Voltari platforms.
- Lead software team structure, best practices, and workflow — from development through validation, test, and release.
- Oversee system-level integration between the ESS, power electronics, and onboard user interfaces.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and processes to strengthen software quality and delivery.
- Partner with hardware and electrical design teams to ensure seamless vertical integration between mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Mentor team members and foster a high-performance, innovation-driven engineering culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in ESS architecture, embedded software and control systems for battery management, EV, or energy systems (marine or automotive preferred).
- Deep knowledge of Li‑ion battery technology, BMS algorithms, CAN communication protocols, and power electronics.
- Proven experience leading software teams and delivering production‑grade systems.
- Strong understanding of industry safety standards.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills—comfortable operating at both strategic and hands‑on levels.
- Unmanned / Autonomous Systems general knowledge an asset.
- Strong UI/UX intuition.
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
