Position Summary

The CAD Technician III is a role responsible for supporting surveying and engineering projects through advanced CAD production, field data processing, and coordination with survey crews. This position combines office-based drafting expertise with strong field knowledge to produce accurate survey deliverables, including topographic surveys, boundary plats, construction staking layouts, and as‑built drawings. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in both survey operations and CAD workflows, ensuring high-quality, timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and analyze field data from survey crews to produce accurate CAD drawings and deliverables
  • Prepare topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and subdivision plats
  • Develop construction stakeout calculations, including points, offsets, and alignments
  • Generate and maintain as‑built survey drawings based on daily field updates
  • Process Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) data and prepare corresponding exhibits
  • Create boundary drawings using metes and bounds descriptions and perform property research ties
  • Incorporate drone survey data into topographic mapping workflows
  • Interpret engineering and construction plans to ensure accurate drafting and layout
  • Coordinate with field crews, engineers, and project managers to ensure data accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure adherence to company and client standards
Field & Technical Responsibilities
  • Support and understand field operations including:
  • Topographic, boundary, and construction surveys
  • Route surveys (roadways, utilities, power lines)
  • Wetland delineation and control/monumentation
  • Perform courthouse and deed research as needed for boundary determination
  • Apply knowledge of conventional and trigonometric leveling methods
  • Assist in quality control of survey data and final deliverables

  • CAD & Processing Software:
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Carlson (Intellicad)
  • Trimble Business Center
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Survey Equipment & Data Collectors:
  • Trimble (R8, R10, TSC3)
  • Leica Viva
  • Topcon Hiper (Static & RTK)
  • TDS (Recon, Ranger, Survey Pro)
  • Robotic total stations and GPS systems
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in surveying and CAD production
  • Strong background in both field surveying and office data processing
  • Proven ability to manage complex survey datasets and produce accurate deliverables
  • Advanced understanding of survey principles, boundary law basics, and construction layout
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction plans
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
