Registered Nurse PICU

Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN to join our healthcare team. Your primary function is to provide care for children and adolescents with a wide range of ailments, from common childhood diseases to life-threatening illnesses. You will work with a phenomenal team that cares like family and works together in a collaborative manner.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of the nursing process to infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Measure patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, breathing and heart rate, and initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology.
  • Follow continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings, such as EKG tracings, O2 stats, CVP/arterial line waveforms, if applicable, and reports any observed changes.
  • Change dressings, inserts catheters, starts IVs (both central venous & arterial).
  • Administer infusion therapy, including: IV fluids, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, electrolytes.
  • Assist with the insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, external ventricular drains, epidural catheters and endotracheal tubes, Foleys.
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Provide education, information, and support to the patient's family.

Job Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing Required, Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
  • BLS-AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of start
  • ACLS-American Heart Association ACLS Provider issued card required within 6 months
  • PALS-American Heart Association PALS Provider issued card required within 6 months
  • 2 Years acute care pediatrics, ICU, or PICU experience preferred
