• Be courteous, attentive, and professional with customers, vendors, and peers; represent the company in a manner that does not discredit or disparage while on the clock and when in uniform outside of work.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures; ensure the store is kept in compliance with safety regulations at all times.
• Maintain attendance and timeliness for each shift.
• Arrive at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required training courses and meetings.
• Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process every customer transaction through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently, ensuring that every item is scanned.
• Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system; handle various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, etc.) and checkout procedures per company policy.
• Adhere to the company’s limits on cash shortages and/or overages; work honestly and effectively to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to Management and/or Pricing/Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies for rewards programs, gift cards, coupons, and other promotions.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Assist with inventory management and restocking.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues; notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including stocking, cleaning, etc.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience, preferably as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain excellent communication skills.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction) and the ability to read, count, and write for documentation.
• Proper handling, preparation, transport, and storage of products; adherence to food and human safety practices.
• Ability to move or handle merchandise weighing 0–50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds; reasonable accommodation available.
• Ability to stand and/or bend over a worktable for the duration of the shift; reasonable accommodation available.
• Understanding and compliance with company quality goals.
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
