** POSITION SUMMARY
** Perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of a variety of shipyard equipment, vehicles, marine engines, and marine machinery.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
** Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, your duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
* Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
* Comply with Company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations, and policies while performing duties.
* Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel, and marine engines and related marine equipment.
* Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment; diagnose malfunctions, need for repairs, or adjustments.
* Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment and valves.
* Maintain accurate records on inspections and repairs/maintenance.
* Work with minimal supervision.
* Perform additional duties as assigned.## ##

** REQUIREMENTS
* *** Education/

Experience:

** High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three or more years previous heavy equipment repair and maintenance experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards desired. Previous shipyard experience desired.

* Skills:

** Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors and employees. Knowledge of the safe operation and use of hand and power tools. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure.

Ability to read a tape measure.
