- Educates the public, including youth and adults, about healthy vs. unhealthy relationships.
- Attends and participates in community action team meetings and events and develops and assists in the development and implementation of prevention-oriented marketing for the Domestic Violence Program.
- Works with children, youth, and their families in shelter and survivors served non-residentially as needed.
- Accepts, orients, and counsels residents staying in the domestic violence shelter, with a special focus on assisting children and youth; assists residents on an assigned shift with basic needs, and ensures safety, security, and adherence to house guidelines.
- Maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that the shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order.
- Limited amount of physical effort associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
- Mostly performed seated; seating may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Work is performed in a normal office environment with little or no physical discomfort from weather changes or noise, dust, dirt, etc.
- Requires travel throughout the county to serve as an advocate for victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse and deliver prevention services.

- Associates degree in a human service related field, sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology or related field.
- Two years of experience working with victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
- Or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Successful completion of Domestic Violence Core Competency training within 90 days of employment.
- Valid state driver's license required.
This position requires a level 2 background screening.
