The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is currently looking for a full-time civilian Airplane Pilot, GS-2181-13 with the Civil Air Patrol-United States Air Force (CAP-USAF) located at First Air Force, Tyndall AFB, FL.
Salary Range: $131,000 – $171,000
NO 180‑DAY WAIVER NEEDED for military
Recruitment and Relocation incentives may be available.
Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1‑year probationary period or 2‑year trial period.

ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will serve as CAP‑USAF Commander’s Liaison Officer (LNO) to First Air Force (Air Forces Northern) (1AF AFNORTH), providing executive‑level advice and analysis to both CAP‑USAF and 1AF AFNORTH leaders.
The LNO proposes, analyzes, evaluates, and makes recommendations on policies and projects concerning 1AF AFNORTH and CAP‑USAF aligning mission areas.
In addition, serves as the CAP‑USAF primary representative to various outside agencies such as Unified Commands and their components, HQ USAF, other MAJCOMS, other Department of Defense (DoD) services, State and Local governments, Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Minimum Flight Hour Requirements (Flight Logs are mandatory)- 1500 Total Flight Hours
- 250 Pilot‑In‑Command Hours
- 75 Night Flying Hours
- 75 flight hours of Instrument Time (at least 10 hours must be in actual instrument conditions)
- Flight Logs
- FAA Certifications, following will be accepted:
- Fixed wing with Instrument rating
- Certified flight instructor
- Military instructor pilot rating
- DD 214 (Member
4) - FAA medical Cert Class II or better
- Must be a US Civilian
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position
- Rated officer experience is critical to the success of the mission.
- The employee is required to meet and maintain CAP‑USAF requirements to pilot general aviation aircraft on a recurring and regular basis, in support of the CAP‑USAF mission.
- Must possess and maintain proper qualifications to exercise the privileges for at least a FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with airplane single engine land (ASEL), Instrument, and Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFI) Airplane ratings.
- Mastery of advanced management and organization principles and practices along with a comprehensive knowledge of DoD planning, programming, and budgeting regulations, guidelines and processes.
- Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and procedures and skill in evaluating program operations to develop comprehensive plans and to analyze work processes and continually improve them to meet organization and mission requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
