Role DescriptionThe Accounts Receivable/Payroll Clerk is a full-time, on-site role based in Paola, KS. This role is responsible for processing and recording accounts receivable transactions, including preparing invoices, posting payments, reconciling receipts, and following up on outstanding balances. The position also supports payroll processing by gathering time and attendance data, entering payroll information, verifying accuracy, and assisting with the preparation of payroll reports and tax-related documentation.
Day‑to‑day tasks include maintaining organized financial records, responding to staff inquiries about payroll and payments, coordinating with internal departments to resolve discrepancies, and supporting month‑end and year‑end closing activities. The clerk will use district financial systems and software, follow established procedures, and maintain strict confidentiality of employee and financial information.
- Proficiency in payroll operations, including Payroll Services and Payroll Administration, with attention to accuracy and timeliness.
- Experience or knowledge in Payroll Management and Payroll Taxes, including compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
- Foundational Accounting skills, such as reconciliations, ledger entries, and basic financial recordkeeping.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with payroll or accounting software and proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing tools.
- Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a school or similar office environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, courteous support to staff and stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow established procedures, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or experience in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred.
