Wildewood Christian Church is a medium sized, multi-generational church located in the suburbs of Omaha, Nebraska. As a Restoration Movement church we are non-denominational. We have three Sunday morning services and a Sunday School program. Our building is located at the crossroads of Papillion High School and Middle School. The students literally walk through our parking lot daily! We are seeking a full-time Youth Minister.

The main focus of this position is grades 6-12. The goal is to make an impact on the students of our surrounding communities, as well as train and resource lay leaders for student ministry.

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Youth Minister is to build a growing and healthy outreach and ministry to students in grades 6 – 12.

As a key member of the leadership team, the Youth Minister will connect with students in order to reach out, show love, and make disciples of our youth. While rooted in building relationships with junior high and high school students, emphasis will also be placed on equipping parents as influencers of their children. We want to develop a discipling process that helps young people grow as they cross different life stages.

Qualifications:
  • Immersed believer with a maturing personal relationship with Christ.
  • Undergraduate degree from a Bible college or Christian liberal arts college.
  • Three to five years of experience in ministry as leader or participant.
  • Able to exercise initiative and judgment as an independent leader.
  • Able to originate, plan, organize, and implement ministry programs.
  • Demonstrate passion for evangelism and outreach.
  • Ability to recruit, disciple, equip, and empower lay leaders.
  • Has a heart for serving God and for reaching youth.
  • Sensitive to the needs and pressures of teens and able to provide Godly counsel.
  • Able to respond to changing needs throughout the daily and weekly schedule.
  • Team player with church staff and current leaders within the youth group.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
Duties and Responsibilities:

General
  • Sustain and develop a comprehensive ministry that encompasses High School and Junior High Ministries.
  • Attend all weekly, monthly, and other scheduled meetings.
  • Attendance at worship services and relevant church events while encouraging youth to do likewise (lead by example).
Core Duties
  • Teach and give leaders the ability to teach biblically based lessons to the youth.
  • Provide leadership of junior and senior high youth and youth staff while ensuring youth groups maintain a balanced spiritual, physical, and social growth program.
  • Be acquainted with the personal lives of the young people (either directly or through youth leaders).
  • Promote emotional and physical safety of students at youth events.
  • Create relationships with parents/guardians, primarily or directly through youth leaders or other means of communication.
  • Share stories youth can relate to or experiences to build character and trust.
  • Support and encourage youth to attend youth programs, church-sponsored events, and be actively serving members of Wildewood.
  • Identify spiritual gifts within the youth and ensure opportunities are given for development.
Lay Leadership Training
  • Recruit, disciple, equip, and empower lay leaders, parents, and young adults.
  • Be an advisor/resource for all youth leaders throughout youth ministry programs.
Administrative Duties
  • Maintain a balanced program throughout the year coordinated with the church calendar events.
  • Pre-schedule all activities in advance and notify staff, parents, and youth in a timely fashion.
  • Develop strategies to encourage church-wide participation in youth ministries.
  • Promote the vision of local and international missions with youth.
  • Manage youth ministry budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
