Overview
The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) with Outpatient Services Scheduling (OSS) work impacts the administrative aspect of patient care including access, scheduling/coordinating appointments using advanced clinic access principles, collecting and updating demographic and insurance information, patient processing and customer service.
Responsibilities- Serve as an initial point of contact for units, clinics, and patients; scheduling patient appointments, tracking, reviewing, and responding to electronic orders, consults, and other elements in the electronic medical record and medical systems.
- Demonstrate practical knowledge of computerized data entry, information processing systems and software related to patient care, healthcare systems organization and services, and basic rules and regulations governing visitors and patient treatment; utilize medical records, standard procedures, and medical terminology.
- Provide excellent customer service.

The occupational series may be eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Repayment is limited to $40,000 annually, up to $100,000 in lifetime awards.
