The Human Resources Specialist plays a key role in supporting the effective and efficient daily operations of the Human Resources Department at Papillion La Vista Community Schools. This position coordinates and maintains a variety of Human Resources processes related to certified and administrative staffing, recruitment, employment, certification, and substitute teachers. Responsibilities include managing job postings for certified, administrative, and salaried positions;
maintaining current knowledge of Nebraska Department of Education certification requirements and processes; and supporting employees, applicants, administrators, and other stakeholders. The Human Resources Specialist helps ensure HR processes are completed accurately, consistently, and in a timely manner.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related area
Certification: SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or pHCLE preferred but not required
Experience:
Previous human resources experience preferred
Other:
Excellent communication, technology, and clerical skills. Proficiency in Google Suite and other district software programs. Excellent oral, written, and phone communication skills. Strong organization, multi-tasking, and planning skills.

Responsibilities:
- Dependable and reliable attendance.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Post all certified administrator and salaried employee openings on the district website.
- Prepare and send screening interviews to all applicants, and add the completed links to the applicant profile.
- Support career fairs and recruiting events for recruitment of staff.
- Recruit, hire and onboard substitute teachers.
- Onboard all new certified staff and administrators, including background checks, certification, transcripts, and orientation.
- Maintain knowledge of Nebraska Department of Education licensure processes.
- Support planning the paraprofessional and substitute professional development conferences.
- Collaboration with all central office departments.
- Prepare early retirement packets for all staff members meeting with the Assistant Superintendent.
- Process Intent to Returns for all PLCS staff members.
- Process annual upgrade requests.
- Support the extra duty process.
- Assist with Human Resources and Student Services projects while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
- Welcome all community, staff, and family members to the District Central Office, creating a friendly and helpful environment.
- Maintain accurate and secure personnel records.
- Additional duties as assigned.
