Equipment Operator

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Equipment Operator to operate large excavators, dozers, sheepsfoot rollers, articulated trucks, and front-end loaders.
- As necessary perform the duties of a Laborer.
- Maintain a safe work area.
- Communicate and work with the Project Support staff – QCM, SSHO, Superintendent, and surveyors.
- Communicate and professionally represent the Employer with government oversight personnel.
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
- Education Requirements:
None - Level of Experience Requirements:
- 2+ years of demonstratable experience on levee repair, and levee construction in USACE projects.
- 2+ years of demonstratable experience working riprap placement projects for USACE.
- Has completed a 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety Course.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Experience of operating heavy equipment; such as, excavators, dozers, front end loaders, and rollers to cut and restore river/creek banks at prescribed depths.
- Ability to use GPS enabled heavy equipment.
- Ability to plan the excavation and/or restoration of levees and maintain efficiency and a safe work area.
- Ability to read and interpret utility locate marks, field sketches and other work documents related to the areas being excavated.
- Ability to complete and file paperwork in an organized and legible form.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements
- This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
