Associate Vice President of Academics
The Associate Vice President of Academics (AVPA) provides district-wide leadership, direction, and administrative oversight for academic operations and services that support instructional quality, faculty success, academic innovation, and student achievement. The AVPA is responsible for leadership of faculty support services, curriculum and academic processes, instructional technology, accreditation coordination, assessment and program review, institutional effectiveness functions, and continuous improvement initiatives that support the college's mission and strategic priorities.
Working collaboratively with faculty, deans, directors, and institutional leaders, the AVPA promotes academic excellence by effectively implementing institutional priorities, making data-informed decisions, and aligning academic operations with student success goals, accreditation requirements, and institutional planning efforts.
In addition to base salary, this position receives a travel stipend in the amount of $5,500 per year. The incumbent in this position is expected to reside within the district (Cochise County). Relocation package is negotiable.

Cochise College serves the residents of Cochise County from two campuses and four centers throughout Southern Arizona with panoramic views of five different mountain ranges. The college has been recognized nationally for its cost, return on investment, and high success rate; providing over 90 general and technical education programs leading to a variety of workforce certificates and associate degrees. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:
Provides district-wide leadership and administrative oversight for academic operations and services that support instructional quality, faculty effectiveness, academic innovation, and student achievement.
Serves in leadership and advisory roles related to compliance, budget oversight, institutional initiatives, and representation on local, regional, and national organizations, and advises the Provost on matters related to academic priorities, operational planning, institutional effectiveness, and student success.
Provides leadership for faculty support services, instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology systems, and professional development initiatives that support effective teaching and learning across all instructional modalities.
Provides leadership for curriculum development, curriculum review, catalog maintenance, academic governance processes, and implementation of approved curriculum changes in collaboration with faculty, deans, and curriculum committees.
Provides administrative oversight for accreditation activities and academic compliance processes to ensure adherence to Higher Learning Commission requirements, Department of Education regulations, substantive change processes, and applicable state and federal requirements.
Provides administrative oversight for assessment, program review, student learning assessment, and continuous improvement processes to support academic quality, student success outcomes, and institutional effectiveness.
Provides administrative oversight for institutional effectiveness functions, including institutional research, institutional reporting, assessment support, accreditation reporting, data governance, and data-informed planning through supervision of the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness.
