Database & GIS Lead

The Database & GIS Lead manages and maintains the mine's integrated data management systems, ensuring data integrity, traceability, accessibility, and compliance.

This role oversees geological, spatial, geochemical, metallurgical, geotechnical, and hydrogeological datasets while supporting technical studies through the Prefeasibility Study (PFS) and Feasibility Study (FS) stages. The position also provides GIS analysis, data visualization, dashboard development, and workflow optimization to support geology, resource estimation, environmental, regulatory, and project development activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrator and steward of all geological database and GIS platforms.
  • Lead the integration of geological, geochemical, geotechnical, environmental, metallurgical, hydrogeological, and spatial datasets into a centralized database.
  • Manage the complete drillhole data workflow, including QA/QC, laboratory imports, and chain of custody.
  • Develop and maintain data validation protocols and reporting systems.
  • Maintain data security, backups, disaster recovery procedures, and user access controls.
  • Support NI 43-101 technical reporting through accurate and auditable datasets.
  • Maintain GIS datasets including claims, geology, drill holes, infrastructure, environmental, and permitting layers.
  • Produce maps, figures, and technical illustrations for reports and regulatory submissions.
  • Support field teams with mobile GIS applications and spatial data collection.
  • Develop dashboards and visualization tools to improve project decision-making.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship for database administration, GIS, and data governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, GIS, Geoscience, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of seven years of mining, exploration, or natural resources experience.
  • At least three years administering geological and multidisciplinary technical databases.
  • Experience supporting advanced-stage mining projects through resource estimation, PFS, or FS.
  • Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro (QGIS considered an asset).
  • Experience with geological database platforms such as ac Quire, Fusion, or Rogue Geoscience.
  • Strong SQL and PostgreSQL database experience.
  • Experience using data analytics or AI-assisted tools is considered an asset.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, and lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
