The Town of Paradise Valley is seeking an exceptional Deputy Court Director to join our team and help lead a municipal court dedicated to professionalism, fairness, and outstanding service to our community. The Deputy Court Director will work closely with the Court Director, judicial officers, Town leadership, staff, and community partners to ensure the efficient, respectful, and effective operation of the court. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, excellent organizational and communication skills, a collaborative leadership approach, and a deep commitment to public service in support of the Town's mission to provide high-quality public services to a community that values limited government.

Specifically,

the Deputy Director:
  • Manages the daily operations and staff of the court which include planning, coordinating, and administering projects, processes, procedures, systems, and standards.
  • Supervises court staff by hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, evaluating performance, and recommending personnel actions.
  • Manages daily financial operations, including reconciliation of receipts, bonds, restitution, accounts payable, and disbursements in compliance with Arizona Code of Judicial Administration (ACJA) Minimum Accounting Standards.
  • Serves as project manager for operational, technology, and process improvement initiatives, coordinating with internal departments, vendors, and outside agencies.
  • Coordinates staff training and professional development, including legislative updates, COJET training, judicial education requirements, and updates to the court's case management system.
  • Assists in preparing and monitoring the department budget and administers grants to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of the court's case management system by reviewing reports, troubleshooting issues, updating system tables, and implementing legislative changes.
  • Develops, maintains, and analyzes databases and records; prepares operational, statistical, financial, and management reports.

THE REQUIREMENTS To become the Deputy Court Director, the Town requires:
  • A bachelor's degree in judicial administration, business or public administration, criminal justice, or a closely related field from an accredited educational.
  • 5 years of experience of progressively responsible experience supervising court employees and processes.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Mustbe able to successfully complete:
  • Arizona Supreme Court’s Civil Traffic Hearing Officer Academy within one year of hire date.
  • Certified Court Manager (CCM) or Arizona Court Manager (ACM) program within two years of hire date.
Preferred:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in judicial administration, business administration, public administration, criminal justice, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • certified civil traffic hearing officer, certified court manager (CCM), certified court executive (CCE), Institute for Court Management (ICM) Fellow, or Arizona Court Manager (ACM) credentials.
