Long-Term Substitute – Wellness Coach I Paradise Junior High School

Paradise Unified School District is seeking a compassionate, student-centered individual to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Wellness Coach I at Paradise Junior High School. This position is 7 hours per day and will provide ongoing student wellness support during the absence of the regularly assigned employee. The Wellness Coach works directly with junior high students to promote social, emotional, behavioral, and academic success.

The successful candidate will build positive relationships with students, provide individual and small-group support, deliver wellness education, and collaborate with staff and families to help students successfully navigate challenges that may impact their school experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide brief individual student check-ins and scheduled meetings to support students socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically.
  • Deliver structured wellness curriculum to small groups and/or classrooms in areas such as relationship building, bullying prevention, stress management, time management, problem-solving, and life skills.
  • Support Tier 1 and Tier 2 students experiencing behavioral, social-emotional, or mental-health-related challenges.
  • Assist students with developing positive behavior strategies, conflict-resolution skills, and healthy coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, the District Safety & Wellness Coordinator, and other school personnel regarding student needs.
  • Assist with behavioral screenings and identification of students who may benefit from additional behavioral health or community-based services.
  • Refer students to appropriate school or community resources when additional services are needed.
  • Support students experiencing crisis situations in accordance with established District procedures.
