Employment Opportunity - Registered Professional Forester (RPF) Butte County Fire Safe Council (BCFSC) Paradise, CA | Butte County Full-Time | Non-Exempt $40.00–$45.00 per hour DOE Full-time benefits package:  Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance  Retirement Plan  Optional Life & AD&D Insurance  Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Open Until Filled The Butte County Fire Safe Council (BCFSC) is seeking a California-licensed Registered Professional Forester (RPF) to lead and support implementation of grant-funded fuels reduction, forest health, and reforestation projects in Butte County.

This position plays a key role in planning, regulatory compliance, contractor oversight, grant management, and post-fire forest restoration. The RPF works directly with the Executive Director and Project Managers to ensure projects meet professional standards, regulatory requirements, and funding parameters. This is a grant-funded, at-will position. Primary Responsibilities  Plan and implement fuels reduction and forest health projects  Develop and administer reforestation plans, including seedling procurement and contractor oversight  Ensure compliance with California Forest Practice Rules and CEQA  Prepare and submit environmental compliance documentation and permits  Oversee fuels reduction and planting crews  Manage grant objectives, reporting requirements, budgets, and deliverables  Support implementation of Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) and WUI Action Plan priorities  Coordinate with agencies, interdisciplinary partners, and community stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications  Active California Registered Professional Forester (RPF) license  Minimum 5 years of field operations experience, including reforestation  Operational knowledge of California Forest Practice Rules and CEQA compliance  Experience managing grant-funded forestry or fuels reduction projects  Proficiency with GIS  Valid California driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications  Experience in post-fire forest regeneration  Knowledge of wildfire behavior, forest health, and local geography  Familiarity with seed procurement, nursery production, and restoration planning  Experience working with public agencies and community-facing forestry initiatives Work Environment Hybrid o(cid:431) ice and field position with regular travel throughout Butte County. Fieldwork may include uneven terrain and variable weather conditions.
