Registered Nurse-Float POOL, Rehab​/Behavioral Health, Per Diem

Responsibilities

Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building located at 6225 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno. The facility offers acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services. Our acute rehabilitation services include occupational, speech, and physical therapy for adults recovering from stroke, injury, or another disabling condition. We offer advanced treatment for a wide range of conditions including stroke, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders, major multiple traumas, and spinal cord and back injuries.

All patients will experience private rooms, have access to a newly renovated therapy gym, and receive personalized care from qualified staff. The adult behavioral health services are an expansion of our current 50+ program and will serve adults 18 years and older. The department is managed through a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, and therapists. Patients experience an individualized care plan, inclusive of individual and family therapy, activities, medication management, and a 24‑hour secure, compassionate environment.

• Demonstrate supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR in partnership with patient in the room.
• Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with other specialists as required, and adjust nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care.
• Perform head‑to‑toe assessments on all patients, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general populations, and conduct reassessments per policy.
• Assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain‑management techniques, and educate patient and family regarding pain management.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition and respond quickly and accurately to changes or response to treatment.
• Perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision and be willing to float to the Med/Surg/Tele units.

• At least wo years of acute care experience.
• Current NV nursing license.
• Current BLS certificate.
