General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and for overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes.
Responsibilities Safety and Security- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure shopping environment.
- Immediately correct or report unsafe conditions or practices.
- Control building entry/exit, monitor security devices, and test fire alarm systems.
- Respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Lead Customer safety procedures, including accident prevention and emergency protocols.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
- Support company dress code policies and ensure associates comply.
- Maintain a clean, well‑maintained store appearance and clear egress.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
- Process merchandise with urgency and complete receipt of all non‑merchandise deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Assist in placing merchandise on the sales floor and ensure back‑stock is secured.
- Account for signage, inventory, and loss prevention on the floor.
- Conduct package inspections and maintain Public View Monitor systems.
- Maintain presence on the sales floor to deter loss and engage customers and associates.
- Safeguard confidential and financial information.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintain public view monitor software.
- Execute all company best practices to maximize productivity.
- Ensure associates execute front‑end standards and manage the line to minimize wait times.
- Train and coach associates on registers, shortage controls, and front‑end procedures.
- Manage break schedules, equipment, and supplies.
- Confirm go‑backs are expedited, scanned, secured, and ticketed.
- Teach “Scan and Bag” best practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and auditing of fitting room tags.
- Ensure go‑back compliance and proper cataloging of returned merchandise.
- Conduct cash pulls, bank deposits, and manage refund approvals.
- Handle payroll administration, including punch edits and scheduling compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager.
- Manage work processes effectively.
- Plan, align, and prioritize tasks.
- Develop talent and collaborate with teams.
- Lead by example and communicate effectively.
- Ensure accountability and execution.
- Excellent verbal communication skills; fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and use store equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Additional physical requirements for stockroom shifts include lifting up to 20 lbs.
