General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, keep work areas clean, and execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone.
  • Immediately corrects or reports any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Responsible for security of building including entrance/exit control, electronic article surveillance device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Responsible for customer safety including accident prevention, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Tests all fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treats all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognizes associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code.
  • Ensures all associates adhere to the dress code at all times.
  • Keeps all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up.
  • Receives merchandise truck when needed and processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
  • Handles all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor after processing.
  • Secures and processes back‑stock according to company policy.
  • Merchandises departments, including back‑stock, and reduces loss due to damage.
  • Ensures compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
  • Manages floor moves and signing, including promotional signing and re‑wraps.
Loss Prevention
  • Understands and complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
  • Maintains a large customer‑service presence on the sales floor and increases loss‑prevention awareness.
  • Demonstrates integrity, safeguards confidential information, and protects cash, credit card, and merchandise information.
  • Maintains the public view monitor system properly and conducts package inspections.
  • Executes all company best practices and maximizes productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensures associates execute front‑end procedures to company standards.
  • Maintains pace, energy, and presence at the front end and manages the line to expedite customers.
  • Trains and coaches associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards.
  • Controls retail associates’ break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensures all equipment is working properly and maintains supplies for the front end.
  • Expedites go‑backs, properly scans, tags, and tickets merchandise.
  • Teaches associates the "Scan and Bag" best practice and ensures salability of merchandise on the front end, aisle tables, and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintains and cleans fitting rooms.
  • Audits all fitting‑room garment tags according to company policy.
  • Ensures go‑back compliance, tickets, scans, and tags returned merchandise as needed.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Conducts cash pulls and bank deposits per company policy.
  • Manages front‑end control, refunds, associate purchases, tills, and cash security as needed.
