As a vital member of our transportation team, you'll be at the forefront of efficient customer service, all while adhering to local, state, and federal transportation regulations and championing company policies.
Job Description- Safe operation of a heavy‑duty truck on container delivery, recycling, residential, commercial, or industrial routes, ensuring efficient servicing of assigned customers while complying with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and company policies.
- Operates the vehicle in accordance with OSHA, DOT and other requirements.
- Performs pre‑ and post‑trip inspections utilizing the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). Reports any vehicle deficiencies before and after each route day.
- Ensures the vehicle is operating correctly on the route, notifying Route Supervisor, Dispatch, and Maintenance of any concerns.
- Understands and implements all Athens Services Safety Rules, using standard tools and resources.
- Clears accidental waste spills, adhering to safety standards and policies.
- Identifies unsatisfactory waste barrels and tags containers with contamination warnings.
- Follows all applicable rules when disposing at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
- Maintains a clean and safe vehicle; cleans waste from the packer blade and truck body where appropriate on each disposal trip.
- Wears all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while operating specific machinery.
- Participates in training, briefings, and safety meetings as required.
- Collaborates with Route Supervisors to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe conditions.
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Supervisor or Dispatch, assisting operations as directed.
- Immediately notifies Route Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, or property damage.
- Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Supervisor.
- Completes all container dumps, leaves locations clean, and properly positions containers.
- Follows route assignments and documents final checks at route end.
- Maintains a positive professional attitude with customers.
- Works in windy, hot/cold, wet environments; around heavy equipment; in dusty conditions.
- Maintains awareness of surroundings and communicates with others while on the road.
- Performs repetitive physical tasks (lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting) in all weather conditions, including lifting
