Audit Senior – Public Accounting | Growing CPA Firm | Hybrid
This job description outlines the responsibilities and qualifications for an Audit Senior in a public accounting firm with a focus on leading audits, client service, and staff mentorship in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day engagement activities to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
- Coordinate and plan engagement phases, including budgeting time and expenses and monitoring performance
- Supervise staff and review work papers for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards
- Prepare and review financial statements, including evaluation of presentation and disclosures
- Lead audit planning and fieldwork, and communicate findings and recommendations to client management
- Serve as the primary in-charge field representative on engagements
- Take ownership of assigned engagement areas and drive them through completion
- Apply analytical judgment to identify, evaluate, and resolve quantitative and qualitative variances
- Leverage prior engagement experience to address current issues effectively
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Travel to client sites as required (varies by engagement)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
- CPA license or active pursuit of licensure
- 3+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on audit and assurance
- Strong Excel and MS Office skills (including lookups and pivot tables)
- Familiarity with common accounting and audit software platforms (e.g., Quick Books, Sage, CCH systems preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, critical thinking, and research abilities
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills; able to multitask effectively
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and auditing standards
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and lead engagement teams
