Salary: $80,000 - $95,000 per year
About the CompanyA growing professional services firm is seeking an Accounting & Billing Specialist to support leadership with day‑to‑day accounting operations and firmwide billing. This is a highly visible role offering strong exposure to both transactional accounting and revenue cycle management. Key Responsibilities- Billing & Accounts Receivable:
Prepare, review, and finalize client invoices - Track WIP, unbilled time, expenses, and retainers
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely billing
- Process adjustments, write‑ups/downs, and credits
- Monitor AR and follow up on outstanding balances
- Maintain billing records and support monthly billing cycles
- Assist with AP, AR, and daily accounting activities
- Prepare journal entries and help maintain the general ledger
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Support month‑end and quarter‑end close (accruals, variance analysis)
- Assist with revenue recognition tied to billing activity
- Contribute to year‑end processes, audits, and ad‑hoc projects
- 3–5+ years of accounting, billing, or AP/AR experience (professional services a plus)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Exposure to WIP, retainers, utilization, and project‑based revenue models
- Experience with billing systems or expense tools
- Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, reconciliations)
- Detail‑oriented with strong organization and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and handle confidential financial information
- Time & billing / practice management systems (e.g., Office Tools, Canopy, CCH, Thomson Reuters)
- Accounting software (e.g., Quick Books Online)
- Advanced Excel
