The Technical Writer / Instruction Sheet Specialist is responsible for authoring, structuring, and developing high-quality, step-by-step instruction sheets for LG&P’s custom retail fixtures and display systems. Working closely with design engineers, project teams, and field installers, this role converts technical product specs and engineering designs into clear written content and visual assembly guides.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional attention to detail, strong content and image editing skills, and a rigorous approach to verifying parts lists against engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs).

This isn't a role where you write in isolation. You'll be shoulder-to-shoulder with design engineers, prototype teams, and field crews — which means every project teaches you something new about how things are actually made and built.

• Hands-on learning: Read engineering drawings, verify real BOMs, and see your instructions tested against a real prototype build.
• Skill-building across tools: Sharpen your craft in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, with room to grow into technical illustration and 3D CAD (Solid Works).

• See your work in the field: Travel periodically to installs and job sites to watch your instructions guide an actual build, then bring what you learn back to the page.

• Visual & Technical Communication: Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into simple, highly visual, user-friendly instructions.
• Content & Image Development: Proficiency in authoring clear instructional text and editing graphic images, photos, callouts, and diagrams using standard desktop publishing tools.
• BOM & Drawing Literacy: Ability to read engineering drawings and understand complex Bill of Materials structures.
• Meticulous Attention to Detail: Exceptional spelling, grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills.
• Software Expertise: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and basic knowledge of 3D CAD software (Solid Works preferred) for content creation.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Communication, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, English, Communications, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of experience authoring technical documentation, instruction sheets, or assembly guides (retail display, POP, furniture, or hardware experience preferred).
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed to install locations, client builds, and job sites.
• Portfolio of work demonstrating clear technical writing, image creation, and instruction sheet layouts.

• Step-by-Step Guide Writing: Draft clear, concise, and visually appealing assembly, installation, and maintenance (R&M) guides for a wide variety of project types..
• Content & Image Creation: Develop clear written copy and produce supporting visual images, diagrams, callouts, and photos to effectively illustrate step-by-step assembly workflows (3D CAD rendering is not required).
