Dreamlab Summer Program Facilitator

The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project. We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties.

We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members. GSNNJ is excited for the upcoming opening of its' very own Dream Lab.

The Dream Lab is designed to become a bold, imaginative hub for sisterhood — a space where ideas ignite, friendships flourish, and limitless possibilities come to life. This dynamic new experience center will offer Girl Scouts a whole new and meaningful way to explore our four pillars — STEM, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Outdoors. Dream Lab will provide an innovative, hands-on learning environment where girls explore STEM, creativity, and entrepreneurship through real-world experiences.

Designed as a dynamic makerspace and discovery hub, Dream Lab offers programs including summer camps, workshops, field trips, and badge-based learning experiences.

Dream Lab Summer Programs will run from July 6 through August 21 and are structured as a series of themed, week-long studio experiences for girls in grades K–12. Each week, participants dive into a specific focus area while building skills, friendships, and confidence through hands-on, project-based learning.

We are looking for talented Summer Program Facilitators who will help deliver great learning experiences at our Dream Lab. Program Facilitators are key members of the Dream Lab team. They support all summer programs by working directly with participants, assisting with hands-on activities, and helping bring each studio experience to life.

While all facilitators support general programming, we aim to build a team with a range of strengths and interests. Facilitators may have opportunities to support or lean into specific content areas throughout the summer.

Schedule:

  • Partial part of June: upto 20 hours/week (training + preparation)
  • July 6 – August 21:
    Monday–Friday during program hours (approx. 30–35 hrs/week)

We are especially interested in candidates with interest or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • STEM (robotics, coding, engineering, science)
  • Maker & Design (crafting, building, 3D printing, hands-on creation)
  • Culinary (cooking, baking, food education)
  • Media (podcasting, video, storytelling, content creation)
  • Entrepreneurship (business, branding, marketing, product design)
  • Early Childhood / Elementary Education (K–3 focus)

Facilitators are not expected to be experts, but should be excited to support hands-on learning in one or more of these areas.

What You'll Do:

  • Supervise and engage participant groups throughout the day
  • Assist with hands-on projects across multiple studio areas
  • Support lead facilitators and specialists in delivering programming
  • Support daily program flow, transitions, and participant engagement
  • Set up and clean program spaces and materials
  • Build positive relationships with participants and contribute to a supportive, safe and fun environment
  • Collaborate with facilitators and other leads. Our staff are part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team and may work across different programs and age groups throughout the summer.
  • Other duties as assigned

June Responsibilities:

  • Participate in onboarding and staff training (20 hours/week)
  • Learn Dream Lab program structure and expectations
  • Support materials prep and setup
  • Gain familiarity with tools, equipment, and studio spaces

Requirements:

  • Experience working with youth (camp, school, after-school, etc.)
  • Interest in hands-on, project-based learning
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Positive, reliable, and flexible
