Job Description

Paramus Catholic High School is seeking a faith-filled and passionate educator to join our Theology Department who will share in the Catholic-driven mission of our high school community. The ideal candidate will inspire students to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith, foster spiritual growth, and integrate Gospel values into their daily lives.

• Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field from a Catholic University (master's degree preferred).
• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church.
• Letter of recommendation from current pastor required.
• Experience working with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication skills, oral and written.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; culturally competent.
• Discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality where appropriate.

• Teach religion in a classroom setting according to the Catholic tradition in which the school was founded and rooted in mission.
• Plan and prepare for 5 Theology classes per semester.
• Create lesson plans; prepare and deliver lectures; evaluate student performance; maintain classroom records; meet with parents, teachers, and other professionals; and participate in school events.
• Use a variety of teaching techniques, including textbooks, white boards, technology integration, and hands‑on materials.
• Provide a safe classroom environment for all students to ask questions, seek understanding, and grow in their knowledge of and relationship with God.
• Possess a working knowledge of the US Catholic Bishops’ Curriculum Framework for Catechetical Materials.
• Actively participate in and contribute to overall staff and Theology Department.
• Show persistence and seek alternatives when obstacles arise; act before being asked or required.
• Accept direction and feedback from supervisors and follow through appropriately.

• Arrival: 7:30 AM
• Homeroom: 7:45 AM (Arrival), 7:50 AM (homeroom)
• School day: 7:50 AM to 1:54 PM, including 8 periods, 5 classes, 1 prep period, 1 duty period, 1 lunch period. The day may require a homeroom period and other duties before or after school as assigned by administration.
• Classroom hours:
  Teachers required by contract to be in their classroom to meet with students on Mondays through Thursdays from 1:54 PM to 2:24 PM.

• Salary Range: $45,039.00 - $108,474 and commensurate with experience.
• Union Scale salary scale.
