Vascular Lab Tech, Vascular Lab, Per Diem

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to and functioning under the general supervision of the Supervisor, the Vascular Technologist prepares for and operates an ultrasound scanning unit following specific IAC standards, departmental protocol and physician orders. Produces detailed imaging of patients anatomy for diagnostic information. Assists patients onto a stretcher, verifies patient identification prior to ultrasound scan, selects patient from work-list, ensures exam is archived on the PACS and completed in ITS.

Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all new vascular technology. To perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients arterial, venous, cerebrovascular circulation using specialized ultrasound equipment to detect stenosis, obstructions, thrombus, aneurysms, pseudo aneurysms, AV malformations, venous valvular incompetence, vasospastic disease or occlusions in the peripheral vascular and cerebrovascular systems.

Completion from an accredited vascular ultrasound program and RVT or CCI registered. CPR certification thru the American Heart Association required.

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI) or (1) year vascular sonography work experience in a clinical setting.

• Physical dexterity to operate sensitive equipment and to perform a variety of ultrasound exams on patients.
• Full range of physical requirements including assisting patients, stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing and pulling.
• Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination; constant talking, writing and listening in English.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems.
• Effective interpersonal communication and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform tasks accurately and with attention to detail, and to switch tasks without loss of efficiency.
• Ability to function independently and competently in stressful situations; adapt to changes in the work environment and patient needs.
• Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system and with patients, families, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (e.g., physicians, Patient Care Services staff).
• Strong time management to set priorities, perform responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems.

Salary

Pay Range: $39.33 - $49.16 (per hour)
