.
- Escort patients within the Medical Center to and from patient units via appropriate means of transportation (e.g., wheelchair, bed, stretcher). Assist Nursing with lifting patients when requested.
- Transport deceased patients to morgue.
- Maintain records of assignments, including description of person/item, time of pickup and delivery, and obtaining appropriate signatures as required.
- Ensure safety and comfort of patients (e.g., make sure safety straps are properly fastened on wheelchairs and beds; assure that IV pole is firmly attached and that IV bag is full; check that patient has proper covers).
- Keep equipment (e.g., stretchers, wheelchairs) clean and in good repair.
- Provide customer service by demonstrating respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assess gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
- Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.
- Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
- Acts as a messenger when required.
- Transports support equipment as required.
- Completion of training program.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Minimum of 1‑year previous patient care experience preferred.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position. Bilingual preferred.
High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
Job Setting / Physical Demands- All areas of the Medical Center.
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking.
- Manual dexterity and mobility.
- Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range: $19.00 per hour
