Role Summary

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and care coordination for child, adolescent, and/or adult clients (based on experience and credentialing). Care is delivered in accordance with New Jersey regulations, InSite clinical protocols, and collaborative practice agreements.

You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team (psychiatrists, therapists, care coordination, medical reception, and leadership) to ensure timely access, evidence-based treatment, and exceptional outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care
    • Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits (in-person and telehealth, as clinically appropriate).
    • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications within scope; provide medication monitoring, psychoeducation, and safety planning.
    • Review external physicals, labs, and screenings obtained off-site to ensure medical needs are integrated into treatment planning.
    • Provide timely refills within policy; elevate high-acuity cases and coordinate higher levels of care when indicated.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Complete accurate, clinically appropriate documentation in the EHR within required timelines.
    • Maintain problem lists, med lists, allergies, CQM items, and measurement-based care instruments.
    • Follow New Jersey APN collaborative protocols and federal/state prescribing laws (CDS/DEA); comply with HIPAA/FERPA in school settings.
  • Teamwork & Communication
    • Participate in case consultation, multidisciplinary huddles, and care coordination with internal and external partners.
    • Support reasonable administrative responsibilities (e.g., forms, prior auth input, brief chart reviews).
  • Quality & Outcomes
    • Practice culturally responsive, trauma-informed care; incorporate clinical guidelines and decision support.
    • Meet or exceed productivity and quality metrics.
  • Tech EHR proficiency (Avon experience a plus), basic Office/Workspace tools (Docs/Sheets/Slides), secure email/telehealth workflows.
Compliance & Standards
  • Abide by InSite Health code of ethics, policies & procedures, and all local/state/federal regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA (and FERPA where applicable in schools).
  • Participate in required trainings, supervision/consultation, and competency assessments.
