Biostatistician
Provides comprehensive statistical, methodological, and research support to clinical and administrative researchers across Valley Hospital, assisting with study design, data acquisition, analysis planning, and dissemination of findings. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to acquire, manage, extract, validate, and analyze data from internal and external sources, including electronic medical records, clinical registries, administrative databases, and research datasets. Performs a broad range of biostatistical analyses and develops reports, dashboards, and research outputs that support evidence-based decision-making, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly publications.
Supports data quality, research infrastructure, and process improvement efforts through the development of data collection systems, reporting methodologies, and operational metrics while ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of all information.
Master's degree in statistics required.
Experience- Managing databases and datasets for human subjects research studies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical record review, chart abstraction, and data extraction.
- Translational science research.
- Industry-standard clinical trial database systems.
- Data entry, database management, and data quality assurance.
- Developing, maintaining, and managing databases and datasets, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Conducting qualitative research.
- Working with direct human subjects research.
- Generating descriptive statistics for abstracts, presentations, grant applications, manuscripts, policy briefs, and white papers.
- Extracting and generating data from multiple secondary data sources, including scanned and portable document format (PDF) files.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Customer-focused with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook or equivalent email systems, Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software, word processing applications, and statistical software such as SAS, R, or Stata.
- Strong background in relational database design, development, testing, and deployment using REDCap and other clinical database management systems.
- Strong decision-making, task-prioritization, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to integrate electronic health record (EHR) data into REDCap and other clinical database systems.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to thoroughly document processes, procedures, and workflows.
- Ability to complete required job-specific training and certifications, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) modules and other relevant certifications.
