Job Duties

  • Social work services including assessment, counseling, consultation, planning, community organization, policy, administration, research, and client-centered advocacy.
  • Clinical social work services under the supervision of a LCSW including assessment, consultation, psychotherapeutic counseling, and client-centered advocacy.
  • Supervising students completing social work coursework.
  • Providing counseling to clients on emotional and mental health issues.
  • Building and maintaining rapport with clients.
  • Performing clinical assessments of clients.
  • Keeping detailed records of client treatment.
  • Consulting with medical professionals and courts where appropriate.
  • Performing screenings, intake assessments, and consultations.
  • Providing social work intervention and education to patients and families.
  • Utilizing individual, family, group work, and crisis intervention methods.
  • Completing a comprehensive psychosocial history.
  • Providing direct treatment services to patients.
  • Serving as a resource to the health care team regarding chemical dependence, psychiatric, and abuse issues.
  • Providing case management services.
  • Interpreting the nature of illness and prescribed course of treatment to patients and families.
  • Acting as a liaison to health care team in understanding family dynamics.
  • Making presentations on various issues related to the field.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary diagnostic and treatment planning conferences.
  • Fulfilling all case recording, statistical reporting, and other documentation requirements.
  • Providing clinical supervision to paraprofessional staff and students.
  • Assisting in developing discharge care plans.
  • Delivering assessment, treatment, and patient care responsibilities appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
  • Maintaining established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Understanding and adhering to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.
  • Actively participating in all required department meetings.
  • Enhancing professional growth and development through participation in education programs.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Education/Licensure

Masters in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Must receive NJ license as a LSW or CSW within 1 year of date of hire. Maintains current levels of licensing, education, and skills as required for position and discipline. Current driver's license required. American Heart Association Heart Saver Certification.

Position Qualifications

1-2 years:
Experience in psychiatric social work or comparable experience. Demonstrated ability to work with behaviorally impaired population or those with addictions, as appropriate. An understanding of addiction treatments, including pharmacology. Reporting and record keeping. Cultural competence. Good oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position. Bilingual skills are a plus (Spanish, etc.)

Job Setting/Physical Demands

Program locations; contact with patients, families, and staff. Somewhat sedentary, but mobility required. Occasionally lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients. Occasional heavy physical effort when de-escalating out of control patients. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency and crisis situations.

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range. BASED ON EXPERIENCE $37.10 - $60.60 per hour | DIFFERENTIALS: EVE 10%/NIGHT
12%/WKEND $2.00 P/H
