- Managing the leave process from the employee's initial request to their return to work. This includes determining eligibility, gathering paperwork, and requesting medical certification
- Coordinating and organizing medical information, and working with payroll and department timekeepers to ensure accurate leave processing
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, human resources policies, and collective bargaining unit agreements
- Advising employees and managers on leave policies, procedures, and programs

- Serve as the primary backup employee responsible for processing benefits for 27 different unions
- Responsible for the maintenance of Building Maintenance Service health plan through unions
- Processing enrollments, terminations, and changes for employees using carrier web-based programs
- Communicate with union Account Managers and Consultants concerning employer and/or member situations as they arise
- Reviewing carrier eligibility reports versus active payroll in preparation for processing accurate premiums due to insurance carriers
- Updating ERP to reflect employee benefits selections and schedule employee deductions
- Preparing and maintaining benefit and 401(k) enrollments for eligible employees
- Maintaining benefit files for all eligible employees of Building Maintenance Service
- Must have knowledge of Word & Excel programs, as well as Internet navigation capabilities
- Must possess positive interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well and in a positive manner to customers, employees, visitors, and vendors at all times
- Ability to multi-task while still exhibiting good judgment and poise in a somewhat fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and listening skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience
Vornado Realty Trust is not offering relocation for this position located in our Paramus NJ office.
The starting base salary for this Paramus, NJ based position is expected to be between $50,000 and $60,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant), and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
