Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient care with consideration for patient growth and development appropriate to the ages served.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and social well-being.
  • Take and record TPR and report deviations to the Primary or Charge Nurse.
  • Obtain specimens as assigned (e.g., urine, stool, sputum).
  • Weigh patient and record weight.
  • Assist patient with activities of daily living including skin care (bathing, dressing, ambulation).
  • Record oral intake and urinary output.
  • Perform assigned treatments (e.g., ROM, Dayroom Monitoring, Courtesy Cart).
  • Communicate effectively with Charge Nurse/Primary Nurse regarding patient needs and requests.
  • Orient patient to environment and develop rapport with patients, family and significant others.
Patient Care Related Duties
  • Keep patient unit and non-patient unit clean (e.g., wipe tables, neat storage areas).
  • Prepare bedside unit for new admissions (e.g., stock with bedpan, tissues, water, cups).
  • Apply principles of infection control and safety in the work environment.
  • Report significant unit problems to charge nurse.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Promote adherence to the Patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Provide customer service with professionalism and respect, in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
  • Understand and adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.
  • Familiarize with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
Other Duties
  • Attend the required 12 hours of in-service education per year (including resident rights, advance directives, and abuse & prevention).
  • Use hospital computer system in accordance with policy.
  • Participate in orientation of nursing assistants and unit CQI activities as assigned.
  • Assist other personnel as needed; perform other related duties as required.
Basic Competencies
  • Education
    :
    Successful completion of an approved Nurses Aide training course required; minimum High School diploma or equivalent; maintains Nurses Aide Certification;
    Heartsaver-required.
Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Nurse's Aide preferred.
Skills
  • Technical skills for patient care; good oral and interpersonal skills.
  • Must pass Nursing Attendant test administered by BRMC.
  • Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
Job Setting / Physical Demands

All patient care areas with contact to patients, visitors, and staff. Frequent standing and walking. Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Protective clothing may be required (face shield, gloves, impermeable gown, particulate respirator).

Salary
:
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range. Based on exceptional experience: $26.00-$28.75/hour; evening/night/weekend differentials $1.15.

Qualifications Education
Required

Certification or better in Cert Nursing Assistant.

Experience
Required

1 year of experience as a certified nurse aide in Long Term Care.
