Position Summary
The Clinical Trials Supervisor provides administrative and operational leadership for assigned research units within The Valley Hospital (TVH), including but not limited to Cardiology, Oncology, and Neuroscience. This role ensures the effective and compliant conduct of clinical trials by overseeing daily research operations, supervising research personnel, and serving as a lead study coordinator as needed. This role collaborates with investigators, sponsors, and cross-functional teams to ensure studies are executed with integrity, efficiency, and a focus on patient safety.
Occasional travel to off-site locations and participation in investigator meetings or other national research meetings as needed. Weekend and on-call availability may be required.
The following areas outline the core responsibilities of the Clinical Trials Supervisor.
Clinical Trial Nursing (Direct Patient & Study Work)- Serve as a study nurse for cardiac and cardiovascular clinical trials, including interventional and observational studies.
- Screen, enroll, consent, and educate study participants in accordance with protocol and regulatory requirements.
- Perform and coordinate study-related procedures (e.g., ECGs, vitals, blood draws, medication administration, device-related assessments, adverse event monitoring).
- Conduct study visits, follow-ups, and patient assessments per protocol timelines.
- Monitor, document, and report adverse events and serious adverse events (SAEs) in collaboration with investigators.
- Ensure protocol adherence and accurate source documentation in electronic medical records and research systems.
- Collaborate closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), cardiologists, research coordinators, and ancillary departments.
- Provide day-to-day clinical and operational supervision of assigned cardiac clinical trials staff.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor, supporting onboarding, training, and competency development.
- Assist with staffing coordination, coverage planning, and workload distribution to support active studies.
- Support performance feedback, coaching, and issue escalation in collaboration with research leadership.
- Facilitate effective communication between research nurses, coordinators, investigators, and leadership.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Experience- Minimum five (5) years of clinical research experience, including research experience in the relevant therapeutic area or across medical specialties.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience within the last five (5) years is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of clinical trial operations and human research protection regulations (21 CFR, 45 CFR 46, HIPAA).
- Proficiency in assessing and implementing research protocols and operational workflows.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient research settings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a structured management framework.

Pay Range: $52.69 - $65.86 (per hour)
