Position: Registered Nurse, Interim Care, Full Time, Night

Position Summary:

To fulfill the needs of patients in a variety of age groups, their family members, and the community by performing varied patient care tasks and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.

Education and Licensure

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Current/valid State of New Jersey license (or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing). CPR certification required. Experience with computer and keyboard skills. Medical terminology knowledge required.

Department Details

The unit is a 14‑bed Intermediate/Critical Care unit caring for a diverse and high‑acuity patient population. Patients commonly treated include sepsis, septic shock, hypertensive emergencies requiring IV therapy, acute respiratory failure (invasive and non‑invasive ventilation), ARDS, and patients requiring prone therapy. The unit also manages status epilepticus, hypotension, gastrointestinal bleeding (including use of rapid infusers and massive transfusion protocols), DIC, intentional and unintentional overdoses, cardiac arrest patients (with or without targeted temperature management), acute or chronic renal failure requiring HD, PD, or CRRT.

Post‑operative patients needing enhanced monitoring are also frequently admitted. Nurses care for patients with a wide range of invasive monitoring and access, including PA catheters, central venous catheters, arterial lines, PICC lines, bladder pressure monitoring, and are responsible for titration of vasoactive medications.

Staffing Model
  • Typical nurse‑to‑patient ratios are acuity‑based, typically 1:3 or 1:2, with ability to flex to 1:1 or 2:1 when clinically indicated.
  • All admissions to the IMC require approval by the Intensivist or designated Advanced Practice Clinician (APC).
Skills and

Physical Requirements
  • Full range of body motion and ability to physically assist patients, stretch, bend, lift, sit, kneel, stoop, stand, walk, push and pull.
  • Position classified as Very Heavy Work (exerting >100lb occasionally, >50lb frequently, >20lb constantly).
  • Manual and finger dexterity and hand‑eye coordination required; constant talking and listening in English.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving, time management, and teamwork skills.

Salary

Pay Range: $45.52 – $56.90 per hour. Actual individual salaries vary depending on experience and other factors. The salary listed does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
