Job Overview
In the Nordstrom Beauty Department, you will create personalized beauty experiences for customers and be part of a passionate team. The Beauty Counter Manager plays a dual role—as a salesperson and a teacher—while maximizing sales in your assigned beauty brand. Ideal candidates are results-oriented, thrive in a commissioned sales environment, are passionate about beauty trends, and can build a customer following both in‑store and digitally.
Responsibilities- Conduct makeup applications, skincare analyses, and recommend products based on customers’ beauty goals.
- Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers.
- Set and achieve personal and counter sales goals, utilizing both in‑store and digital selling tools, including text and social media.
- Manage the scheduling and execution of vendor events and promotions.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to maximize business results.
- Keep the department customer‑ready through organization and cleanliness.
- Stay current with the latest beauty trends, products, and industry knowledge through training provided by Nordstrom and luxury brand partners.
- Manage sales, refunds, exchanges, and build customer loyalty by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts.
- Passion for customer service and beauty, including trends, makeup application, and skincare.
- Excellent ability to connect with customers, proactively handle concerns, and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Empathy and respect for all customers, providing a supportive environment during makeup and skincare application.
- Strong multitasking, organization, and follow‑through skills.
- Drive to achieve sales goals, with interest in using networking and technology.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Continuous movement for 6–8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Regular lifting of items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
$26.05 – $27.10 hourly. Commission on beauty and men’s fragrance sales is typically 3%. Commission for apparel, shoes, and accessories sales generally ranges from 3% to 14.5%.
