The Machining Technician is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and manual metal fabrication equipment to machine a variety of materials in accordance with specifications, routers, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and work pieces on machines.
- Set up and operate CNC machines and machining centers to perform cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and related operations.
- Perform machining operations as specified on routers and work instructions.
- Load control media and retrieve programmed instructions from the machine controller.
- Calculate and set machine controls including spindle positioning, cutting depth, speed, feed rate, and coolant flow.
- Select, install, and maintain cutting tools.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure safe and efficient performance.
- Adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Measure and verify parts meet blueprint, sketch, and specification requirements using appropriate measurement tools.
- Clean machines and tooling after use.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and apply 6S principles in work areas.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow all quality systems, operating procedures, safety rules, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of college or technical school or three years of related machining experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and cognitive skills.
- Ability to read and understand routers, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
- Good problem-solving, judgment, and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Primary work location:
Manufacturing floor. - Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling/crouching, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
- Exposure to noise.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
