Overview
The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Warehouse Lead for the Paris, KY facility. The Warehouse Lead will have moderate supervision, perform warehouse operations such as loading/unloading trucks, stacking bags, handling product, palletizing, and related tasks. Document all completed work and record inventory data using scanners and computers as necessary. Interact regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of warehouse operations and promote teamwork.
Operate forklifts and hand carts. Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Lead and supervise warehouse activities to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate operations.
- Check and unload inbound shipments; orderly stacking of product; and picking and staging of outbound shipments with high productivity.
- Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers and ensure products are properly counted.
- Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are complete and free of damage; complete necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Compute and analyze daily and weekly production metrics; assist in physical inventories and cycle counts; maintain product locator system.
- Ensure optimal use of space; rotate products as appropriate; maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area; support warehouse security.
- Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently; promote safety and compliance with OSHA and applicable standards.
- Attend planning meetings; act as liaison between employees and management; communicate industry and brand knowledge to associates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma preferred.
- 3 years of leadership and warehouse experience required.
- SAP, WM Module experience is a must.
- Familiarity with personal computers and material handling equipment.
- Strong supervisory and communication skills; good decision making and coaching abilities; ability to drive results.
- Help establish and implement work schedules; ensure schedules are followed and jobs are completed properly.
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in leading, supervising, coaching, and disciplining associates.
- Provide input into performance evaluations for promotions, wage increases, associate development, and terminations.
The work environment is an industrial warehouse with typical noise levels. Work near moving machinery; conditions may include temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases. The role requires standing and walking most of the day, and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds with or without assistance. Vision requirements include close, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
