Job Description

A food manufacturing company located in Paris, Tennessee is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to support our manufacturing operations.

This position is responsible for purchasing raw materials, packaging, and operational supplies while maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring materials are available to meet production needs. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Purchase raw materials, packaging, ingredients, and operational supplies to support production.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing activities to maintain adequate inventory while minimizing excess stock.
  • Create, process, and track purchase orders to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Resolve supplier, delivery, and invoice discrepancies promptly.
  • Work closely with production, warehouse, logistics, and accounting teams to support operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and inventory information within the company's ERP system.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous process improvement.
  • Comply with all company policies, food safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
