Praise and Worship Leader

Ministry Purpose

Be responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating the music ministry for the Church.

The Minister of Music serves under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and works closely with other Church staff, employees, and assigned Church committees.

• Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation the music ministry including the development of short and long range goals and plans.
• Assist the Senior Pastor in organizing worship services for the Church by planning and providing leadership and direction to the music portion of worship services. Plan and coordinate the music to interface with the Television ministry.
• Direct music groups and congregational singing.
• Coordinate the music ministry activities with the Church calendar and emphases of the Church.
• Be available to counsel, arrange and provide music for special projects, ministries, and other Church-related activities in cooperation with appropriate individuals or groups.
• Supervise the work of all assigned paid employees within the guidelines of any written job description available for each position.
• Be responsible for enlisting and training leaders and workers for the Church music ministry. Supervise the work of all volunteer leaders and workers in the music program.
• Work in cooperation with the appropriate persons, including the personnel and/or nominating committees, in selecting, enlisting, training, and advising accompanists and other musicians who serve in the various music ministry programs.
• Coordinate the training, use and performance schedules of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals in the functions of the Church.
• Work as a part of the total Church staff team in visitation of both Church members and prospective Church members including hospital visitation and evangelistic visits to reach the lost for Christ.
• Give direction to a music program plan of visitation including ministry and outreach to current music program members and enlistment of new members.
• Supervise the maintenance of and additions to the music library and equipment, including music materials, supplies, instruments and other music equipment for use in the Church’s music ministry program.
• Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotion and administration, utilizing them where appropriate.
• In consultation with the Finance Committee, prepare an annual budget to be recommended as a part of the overall Church budget.
• In all areas of the music ministry, comply with all established Church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws.
• Be available, on occasional nights and weekends, for music ministry events as well as to work with the Senior Pastor in making emergency pastoral care visits as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor and/or the Personnel Committee.
